Very simple and beautiful crochet flower to make. They are super nice, beautiful and very easy to make. Be aware, that it will take few minutes to make one, so take time. It another rose type flower where you make petals all separately.

Hollyhock, or Alcea, is eurasian flower, and is used as ornamental flower in our gardens. It actually comes in many different colours. It's easy enough to grow from seeds and has many other great uses.

For this flower you could use three different colours, also this flower can be made with any quality wool. It would work as beginners crochet but has more technique in it as you would make each of the petals separately, what makes it more intermediate than beginners. Follow the method and chart and as usual there is video tutorial at the bottom.

YOU NEED:

  • 4 ply cotton wool
  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • needle and scissors

METHOD:

Row 1: make a slip ring or magic ring, pick up and chain (ch) 3, make 9 double (dbl) crochet into the ring, pull from the other end and close the ring with slip stitch (ss) to 3rd ch space.

Row 2: ch 1 and make 1 half double (hdbl) to same space, then make 2 hdbl to each of the dbls, until you are back at the beginning, ss to ch 1

Row 3 (petals):  Make each petals as follows: *ch 4, make 2 triple (trp) to next 3 spaces, turn work around; ch 1 and make 5 sc across the trp-s, turn work around; ** ch 4, ss to top of sc, repeat from the * until you are back at the edge, ending with ss, ch 4 and ss to the very bottom to the petal into hdbl. First petal finished, repeat from the * to make another four petals, fasten off invisibly.
